OMV-PETROM PFCP seabed survey
Added at: 2010-11-02
Shark Subsea Services performed a combined geophysical and bathymetric survey within the Black Sea at OMV Petrom PFCP location. We were asked to conduct this survey because of the planned installation of a new platform and bridge at the Central Platform (PFCP) facility. The out come of this survey was to verify where the platform could be located. The offshore operations for this project were performed from the survey vessel GSP Alcor, and the processing and rendering of data was conducted at Shark’s purpose built Office in Constanta.

Data was obtained utilising our Reson SeaBat 7125-C high frequency (400kHz) Multibeam, echo sounder (MBES), side scan sonar, Sub-bottom profiler and pipe tracker, all mounted on our new Panther XT ROV.
Roger J Moore our new ROV and Survey offshore operations manager and party chief for this project said “The Panther XT held its own on this project and its first ever operational task. The Panther XT has proved a valuable investment for SHARK along with the dedicated team that maintains her".

The data was then recorded onto our Tritech acquisition software, then converted with SonarWiz processing software where corrected navigation and reflector picking was conducted.
The Pipe tracker data were processed with our PDS2000 software.

All data was then imported directly into AutoCAD for post processing and generating bathymetry charts.
Point clouds were extracted from the Multibeam data and exported to RiScanPro software in order to digitise the seabed features and debris.
All in all a great chance for SHARK to show what they can achieve.
